Artist statement: P1- I see a rectangular prism that has a open side on the top. It is hollow on the inside and is made to be a flower vase. It is about 3 Inches wide on every side and about 8 inches high. The sides are about half a inch thick and it has a design of squares that are a inch by a inch and has diamonds on the inside that alternate dug in or out.
P2- In my artwork I used the elements of negative and positive space, geometric shapes, and depth to create my vessel. My creation was highly inspired by Carmen Herrera and her designs she created throughout her life. I used her painting Rondo to create my design for my vase.
P3- As I was making my vase I was thinking of my grandma who used to always bring my family flowers and i would put the flowers intone of the big glass vases we had. My intention was to create another vase that I could put flowers in when our family received any. The main purpose is to look good and hold flowers along with water.
P4- I really like my work and hope it will look good with flowers in it. I thought it was a successful project and really enjoyed most of the process of creating it. I did find it annoying to create the design because it took so long but in the end I'm happy I chose to do that design.
